ENTHUSIASTIC RECEPTION
WELCOMED BY CROWDS

' •■■'"? RUGBY, 18th June. The Duke and Duchess of York had a great welcome at Malta yesterday. The Renown, escorted by destroyers and seaplanes,-arrived in the harbour amid the booming of salutes. Sir Ugo Mifsud, head of the Ministry, read an address .. of welcome when .Their Royal Highnesses- landed, and the Duke and Duchess; then motored to Valletta through crowded and decorated streets, amid tremendous cheering.' At the .Governor's Palgce the Duke-invested Sir Ugo Mifsud with his badge as a Knight Bachelor. After holding a levee m the famous frescoed hall the Duke and Duchess motored to Strada RoaJo?,to • lay. the foundation-stone of a new/town,-which is being built on the si to 6r tho old fortifications. , This ceremony topk place in the arena formed by high battlemonts on which thousands of people had gathered. Their -Koyal Highnesses again had an enthusiastic reception. V
