MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Police cases in the Magistrate's Court on Saturday were dealt with by Mr. W. G. Biddell, S.M. A marriod'woman, aged 35, whose naino was ordered to be suppressed, pleaded guilty to two charges of shoplifting, involving the theft of material, valued at £.1 0s lOd, the property of James Smith, Ltd. Chief-Detective Ward said that £ho accused was a drugaddict, and her husband attributed the two offences to that vice. Sho had spent sixteen months on Pakatoa Island, and her husband wanted her to be sent there again. A remand to Wednesday next was accordingly granted.

One first-offender for drunkenness was fined 10s, the amount of his bail.
