COMMERCIAL PERSONNEL
The subject of personnel of Commissions set up by the Government to investigate and report on commercial matters was before a meeting of the council of the "Wellington Chamber of Commerce, and emphasis was laid on tlio necessity for these Commissions to be constituted from men actively engaged in commerce, and with a full knowledge of the conditions affecting trade. - It was decided to forward the following resolution to the Government:— "That this chamber recommends to the Government that in future when setting up a Commission to inquire into any matter or matters affecting the commerce of New Zealand:— (1) Such Commission should bo composed of three or five, but on no account an even number of persons. (2) The chairman should be a Judge of the Supreme Court or a Magistrate. (3) That members of such' Commission apart from the chairman, be / men well versed in commercial matters. .
'. (4) No Civil Servant should be a member thereof unless the matters to be inquired;into are technical."
