GALE IN AUSTRALIA
MUCH DAMAGE REPORTED
RIVERS RISE, IN THE WEST

PERTH, Thi ß .Day. A gale which reached a velocity of seventy miles an hour has occurred bvetj a considerable area. It was /accompanied by hea-vy rain, and has caused considerable damage to property. A: nutaber of buildings were unroofed^ hoardings and fences, were blowa down, and trees ivere uprooted. The Swan River has risen about three feet, and ferry steamer services and country; air services have been suspended. Other rivers are also reported to be in flood. -
The ptorm is described aB one of the worst in the history of Fremantle, where steamers had to run out extra mooring lines. Much minor damage has been done.
