THE CAR OF TO-DAT
AMAZING'RELIABILITY
The reliability ..of the preseut'-day motor-car is largely: taken for granted, but it has received no finer testimonial than from the experience of the' western organiser of the' Graziers' Co-operative Shearing Co., Ltd., who was caught by floods along the Faroo Biver some time ago (states a Sydney paper). The car used :was a 1.926. model of American manufacture, .in which the motorist concerned was making a business trip along the Paroo early in! May last year. The river at the time was coming down in high flood owing to heavy rain in Queensland, but, as the organiser was on urgent business, he decided not to take an outside road, and eventually was bogged in the channel of the river and had to abandon the ear. The water continued .to rise, and when the organiser returned - with i assistance twp'\.days'were spent getting the car on to a sandy ridge, where it was left for seven months in an exposed position, and with no protection from the weather. When the water eventually dried up, tho car was recovered, and driven straight, back to Sydney, ,with.ou.t.receiving any mechanical attention^ After an overhaul in Sydney, it went straight back-on tho road, and is jlstill; running well. , Although left vexposed to the weather for so long, it did not even require repainting.
