RAILWAY OBSTRUCTION

TWO MEN. CHAEGED

GISBORNE, This Day. The discovery of an obstruction on the railway line at Otoko early this week has led to the arrest of two men at Whakatane. They are charged with interfering with the property of the Railway Department, and they are to appear at Gisborno to-morrow. Tho obstruction found on the lino comprised spikes, ordinarily used for securing the rails to the sleepers, and it was sufficiently large to derail an engine" had it not been discovered.

The "two men charged with tho offence were passing through Poverty Bay on foot and are believed to be identical with the two men .seen walking along the railway line near the spot where the spikes were found on tho lino.
