"Contributor" Ts sumes to know more ..than the radio the "probable expendU ture of the Broadcasting Co." He airily quotes figures under the headings of «£ aries, talent, etc,.for the various broScast stations. One is led to ask" by what means hederives the figures quoted. Has the Broadcasting Co. at last taken some disinterested "man in.the street" into iU confidence, or. has the. apologist merely drawn on his imagination r, "Contributor" estimates the probable'income for the current year at. £23,000::.An Auckland radio journal recently computed'the year's income as being likely -to reach £40,000. His opinions of the wave-lengths appear .to show a lack of knowledge of the subject. Contributor" should not hide his' identity,, but should come out-into the open. in conclusion, I would point out that the British Broadcasting . Co. of Great Britain was considered to be such an important public-utility that from Ist January, 1927, the company then existing waa taken over by the British Government, and board of directors, five in number, were appointed to take control, and to see that an adequate service was given to the-public who provided the fees.—l am, etc., ....-: . . .J..H.
