NEW ZEALAND LOSES

NORTHANTS MATCH

A SCRATCHY DISPLAY

(United Press Association.—Copyright.)

(Beeeived loth June, 11.30 a.m.)

LONDON, Uth June.

Though tho wicket was somewhat worn, it played true enough, and thus the New Zealanders' display was a great disappointment. Blunt played a restrained, confident game, but Lowry failed to settlo down. He attempted One big hit, but mis-timed the ball so badly that he fell back on the defensive game. M'Girr and Dacre established a partnership which promised for a while to save tho game, especially M'Girr, who realised the responsibility, but was full ,of confidence. He scored eleven off one of Jupp's overs. Dacre hit a sixer and fell to a "scooter." The batting after lunch was rather scratchy and tho game reached an undistinguished conclusion.

The Northants bowlers wcro steady, kept a good length, and sometimes got much work on the ball, but this does not account for the New Zealandcrs' display. The match will be long remembered at Kettering for its sporting qualities. Following are the details.— NOBTHAMJjjONSHIBE. f First Innings 237 Second Innings 260 NJIW ZEALAND. A CORRECTION.

In Northamptonshire's second innings Jupp was bowled by Blunt, not by Merritt, as stated in yesterday's cabled details. The bowling performances are therefore amended to read: Merritt took four wickets for 63 runs and Blunt two for 72. .
