EELS AND TROUT
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—Regarding the article on eels in tho "Post" of 9th June, I would like to mention that last summer two friends and I caught 65 pounds weight in 20 minutes. By pouring blood into the stream, all the eels will come out from bank, stones, or other hiding places, and it is quite interesting to see the effect it has on them. I saw more of these cannibals last summer than ever before, and consider it is time something was done. To the scientific world eels are a great study. I have seen as many as ten large eels in one hole, and not a trout within a mile of the spot. These eels would weigh about 100 pounds. All trout fißhormen are agreed that a strong effortwill have to be made for their destruction, —I am, etc., VKEJ) tf-AIREY. i Nelson, loth June,
