AUSTRALIAN MISSION

UNANIMITY LACKING

(United Press Association.—Copyright) (Beceived 13th June, 2 p.m ) .:' WASHINGTON, 12th June. t"t I -° ?«? meeting of the Australian Industrial Mission at Washington, Mr Grayndler absent, it is understood that heated exchanges occurred between employer and employee representatives regarding Mr. Grayndler's general inattention to the Mission's meetings. It is stated authoritatively that members were prepared to place progress reports on the table if Messrs. Grayndler and M'lwwsa sang d« JtkewiMjt }«t S9

action resulted. It is believed that Messrs. Grayntilcr and" M'lnnesa are making the excuse for lack of progress that they .have insufficient data. In order to placate them in the hopo of a unanimous report, the mission - passed a resolution for Mr. Brace's information that owing to insufficient information being available, the mission was unable to complete its report in America, and adjourned to San'Fraucisco Mr. Munden stated that he personally was prepared to finalise his report before leaving America.

It is difficult to understand the complaint of insufficient data after three months' intensive travelling and three weeks in Washington, where Government officials and also the Federation of Labour are anxious to supply abundant information. Mr. M'lnncss has joined.Mr. Grayndler in complaining against the mission's tour having been through mostly open shops, but members had always to decide- on the itinerary. The mission leaves on Sunday for Pittsburgh. A strenuous programme is arranged before arrival in San Francisco, and it is not expected that further progress or individual reports will be completed until the voyage home.
