POLICE RAID

THIRTY MEN AE RESTED

AUCKLAND, 12th June,

Detectives raided a room on the. fifth floor of tho Chatfield Buildings in Customs street at 10 o'clock last night, and arrested over thirty men, "who wore later charged with being- found in a common gaining house. It is stated that tho police made their way upstairs and silenced the door-keeper. They then rushed inside and surrounded a table at which a number of men were sitting and standing. A box of diec, money, and various apparatus was seized before those present realised tlr position. While an exhaustive search was in progress one or two other men entered the room and wcro also arrested. Ono man was charged, with keeping a common gaming house.
