: The qualifying rounds of the New South Wales amateur golf championship :*ere...,played at Rose Bay on Saturday. The weather jvas fine, liut a disconcerting -wind prevailed, and the greens -were tricky, with the result that the scores were only fair.

The scores in the first round were: Murdoch 77, Harrison and Jones 78 each, Smith and Whitton 79, Morrison 80. The best New Zealand scores ivere: Duncan and Hortoa 80 each, Quin and Maefarlane ;S2, Ross and Harrison 89. In the second round the scores were: i. Whitton 76, making his score I 06: Horfcon, SO, 79—159; Russell, 82,' 77—159; Thorn 81, 81—162; Macfarlane, 82, 83—165; Quin, 82; 86-7-168; Duncan, playing well, finished third with 158. NEW ZEALANDERS' ROUNDS. The New Zealamlcrs again performed well. Duncan made an indifferent start, and took 43 to go out, but he played splendidly coming home, completing the course in 80. In the afternoon he was out in 38 and home in 40, his: grand total of 15S giving 'Tunr- third ''..position. Horton also had a bad start, but fin-: ished in great style for a similar morning score,- In the-.* afternoon he returned a well-played card; of 79, only marred by a 7.at!the thirteenth hole. Macfarlane .played steadily for two 83's, and -has tied with four others for the last three places. Quin was playing good golf through the greons, but for once his putt deserted him, and he finished outside the qualifiers. Ross was never going well, and was well back with. SO, and 87. , :, :■•''.'
