TRAMCAR ACCIDENT
CLAIM FOR DAMAGES
An action for £825 damages against the Wellington City Corporation arising out of a tramcar accident in Lambton quay was heard before the Chief Justice in the Supreme Court to-day. Tho plaintiff, Jane Gifford Lauren-so-.i, a spinster, said that while attempting to board a tramcar in Lainbton quay on 4th December, 1926, she was thrown to tho ground and sustained an intracapsular fracture of tho neck of the left femur, besides other injuries. She alleged negligence on the part of the Corporation, in that tho car had been suddenly started, or smarted before she had boarded it.. She claimed £325 special damages, including £100 as loss of. paying guests and £ 825 genoral damages.
The defendant Corporation denied negligence, and said that tho plaintiff had boarded the car while in motion.
Mr. O. C. Mazengnrb appeared for tho plaintiff, and Mr. J. O'Slion for the defendant. (Proceeding.)
