HEAD-ON COLLISION

CHRISTCHURCH, Oth June, A young man, Hugh Scales, of New Brighton, was seriously injured to-night as a result of a motor-cycle which he was riding crashing into a motor-lorry at the corner of Lonsdale street and the Esplanade. It is stated that Scales was riding at a speed of 15 miles per hour and crashed head-on into the lorry, which was unattended, and which, it is alleged, showed no lights and was standing partly across the roadway. Scales was badjy cut about the head, face, and legs, and is apparently suffering from severe concussion. He was removed to the Christchurch Hospital.
