FERRY SERVICE
MANUKA DELAYED
Bad coal and unfavourable weathetf considerably delayed the Manuka oa her run from Lyttelton last night, and She did not arrive at Wellington until a quarter to two this afternoon. Th» absence of the Maori from the ferry service is being seriously felt, aa both! the Mararoa and,the Manuka,-the two vessels tried in her place, have badljlj disorganised the service lately. The Mararoa was withdrawn after a week's service, and the Manuka was put on irt her place. She in turn, however,.is running late. She did not arrive at Lyttelton. until 10.15 a..m. on Sunday^ instead of the usual 7 o'clock, and she was six and a half hours late in arriving here to-day. She -was late in leaving Lyttelton, however, not sailing «n» til 9 o'clock last night. The Manuka ' 4 speed is not good at tTie best of times^ but when she meets such handicaps at thdse, the old ship is far from attain* ing the speed of the Maori or the Wa« hine.
