OFF TO PARIS

LINDBERGH FLIES

eSARACTERISTIC DASH

STARTS OFF ALONE

(Received 4th June, 2 p.m.)

LONDON, 3rd June.

Captain. Lindbergh's departure for Paris' in a single-seater aeroplane lent by; Jhe Air Ministry, gave a terrific thrill to the few spectators gathered at Keiiley Aerodrome. It was understood that the visitor should! take off in company with two British airmen. Suddenly Lindbergh entered, the cockx)it, and dashed off alone. Putting the nose of the machine up, he shot straight like a lift, a hair-raising manoeuvre, ■which the R.A.F. pilots, though highly .skilled, did not attempt to emulate. Fortunately Lindbergh's sublime faith in (the engine and his own capabilities '■was justified, and in less than two 'hours later he was executiving stunts over Paris. At Le Bo;.-get Aerodrome he descended closed to the crowd, and •wheix invited to move the machine nearer the hangars, he stepped in and flew •So the other side. On' Saturday he flies to Cherbourg, together with escorts.

..'The French Geographical Society has ia-warded him its gold medal. It is proposed that streets be named after him, Nungesser, and Coli.
