SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY.
The past week has been a busy one at the Sailors' Friend Society Institute. On Sunday morning the missioner spoke to a large number of men on "Companionship." Miss M. Spencer was instrumentalist. Ladies from the Kent Terrace Church presided at the tea tables. There was a large attendance in the church at 7 p.m., when the missioner jireached on "Why Did Christ Die?" Mrs. Good was at the organ. There was a big attendance at the song Bervice later in the institute, when opportunity was taken to present an inkstand, suitably engraved, to Mrs. Good to mark her tenth year of voluntary service. Members of the orchestra also received tokens in appreciation of their work. On the King's Birthday the men assembled in, the institute, and the games, under the leadership of the missioner (Mr. James Moore) and his workers, were most successful. A cricket match, "Wellington v. Canada," ended in Wellington making 90 runs and Canada 36. Lunch, tea, and supper were served by ladies under the leadership of Mrs. James Moore. At 8 p.m. a concert was given by Mr. Leslie Anderson, who Was assisted by Messrs. Faulkner, H. Smith, Cody, Harvey, Carter, an^l Harrap. Mr. Carter was at the piano. The prize winners were the Misses I. Colpus, M'Gowan, and Hammond, and Messrs. Amies, Murton, Cody, Harvey, Coyle, Penny, Allen, Smith', Sequin, Watts, Spain, Dunn, Carter, and O'Donnell. The committee and the missioner thank all who helped by donations or otherwise and assisted to make the day a success.
