NARROW ESCAPE

AUCKLAND, This Day

A five-roomed cottage .at Northeot.e, owned and occupied by Mr. Roy Clifford Stirling, a warehouseman, was destroyed by live at 10 o'clock last night. The furniture and effects were totally destroyed. Mrs. Stirling was at the pictures and Mr. Stirling, who had retired, was not awakened until the fire had burnt through the bedroom wall. He just had time to pick up his little daughter and escape. The insurances were £400 on the building and £150 on the contents.
