LIBEL ACTION

JURY AWARDS £100 DAMAGES

The libel action in which Ada Prances Walker claimed £1000 damages from Andrew Phillips, and his wife, Olive Phillips, of Westport, was concluded before Mr. Justice. MacGregor and a jury in the Supreme Court to-day.

The plaintiff claimed that her moral character had been defamed in letters, which, she alleged, were written by the defandant, Olive Phillips. After an hour's retirement the jury awarded the plaintiff £100, and judgment was entered accordingly. Mr. P. W. Jackson appeared for tha plaintiff and Mr. H. F. O'Leary for the defendant.
