EMPRESS THEATRE.
The Campbell Boys, the popular concgrtina players, delight the audience at the Empress Theatre this week with their' excellent playing. The star picture is; "A Hero of the Big Snows," starring that best of all canine stars, Rin-Tin-Tin, while his "wife," Nanette, also has a big part. The story concerns a young wastrel who befriends the dog. When the dogresponds to his kindness, after a series of : thrilling adventures, his human friend wins the love of Alice Calhoun and all is well. The second feature, "A Little . Journey," featuring William Haines and Claire Windsor, is a delightful comedy romance.
There will be three attractions on the programme commencing to-morrow at the Empress, "Pleasures of the Rich" "The Danger Signal," and the official opening of Canberra by the Duke and Duchess o\ York. The .story of- "Pleasures of the Rich"-tells, of vthe daughter of-a "Noti-j, v?au RicheV chain grocery-store owner, who falls in. love with the 'young son of a social leader. The mother of the lad objects to the alliance, and the trials and tribulations of the lovers before they plight their troth are the high incidents of the story. Helene Chadwick, Jack Mulhall, and Hedda Hopper lead an exceptional cast of players. In "The Danger Signal" there is a reproduction of the events leading up to the wreck of a great train. In this casp, however, the wreck is an act of heroism, since it saved a terrible smash-up with another speeding engine and the man who . prevented the crash risked his life in an unusually dangerous manner. Jane Novak, Dorothy Revier, Robert Edeson,. Robert Gordon, and Gaston Glass head the cast. The story deals with romance, mother love, and swift adventure. The picture of the official opening 'of Canberra is said to be most comprehensive and a splendid-record of the proceedings. As a prologue to the main part the laying of tho founda-tion-stone by Lord Denman in March, 1913, is also shown.
