CAPETOWN, 16th May. The House of Assembly has passed the Flag Bill by a majority of 21. General Smuts vigorously opposed the introduction of the Bill, on the ground

that it would ieopen all racial bitterness and imporil the progress already made towards amity. The . member for Zululand also strongly appealed to the Government to delay the Bill, with.' a view to settling the flag^. question.
