yOTE AGAINST CONSCRIPTION

The Labour Conference at Canberra passed a resolution amending the Federal Party's policy, particularly in regard to defence. ■ In addition to the resolution against compulsory military training, it wa s resolved that the Commonwealth constitution be amended in order to include a condition that there should be no conscription for service overseas, the Government retaining the power to provide for adequate home defence against possible foreign invasion.
It was also decided to insert a new rote in the platform that all incomes up to £300 a year should be exempt from taxation, and that the Government should have complete control over wireless.
