TRACES OF THE RAID

MORAL DAMAGE WORSE

TRADE RELATIONS SUFFER

{United Press Association.—Copyright.) ' .(Received 18th May, 11.30 a.m.)

LONDON, 17th May.

- \A visit to the Arcos offices shows that the furniture and fittings of the rooms were not disturbed, but were covered with dust. Tho strongrooms were considerably damaged, and holes big enough to admit men hewn in tho brickwork, concrete, and steel. A small safe in M. Khinchuk's office was bored in twelve places and the pieces were lying on the floor.

"The damage to the building is nothing as compared with the damage to Anglo-Bussian arrangements," says Mr. J. Boeff, acting-chairman of Arcos; "Even the normal work of the Russian Trade Delegation and Arcos may not continue. "The Soviet may not take the political risk of dealing with Britain. The machinery orders, which the loan would have financed, would have meant much to British manufacturers, but all that is now very unlikely." He concluded with the remark: "We are consulting our legal advisers regarding the damage."
