OFFICIAL SUSPENDED
STIR IN SWIMMING CIRCLES
(By Telegraph.)
(Special to "Tho Evening Post.")
AUCKLAND, This Day. I here was a mild sensation in local swimming circles by the action of the Auckland Swimming Centre in suspending Mr. C. J. Sainty, a member of the committee of the Ponsonby Amateur Swimming and Lii'eSaving Club as the result of trouble over the nomination of a girl swimmer for the "tiny tots" race, which was included in the Waitemuta Amateur Swimming Club's carnival last January. Only girls under 12 on Ist October, 192G, were eligible. According to the official statement made at the last meeting of the Auckland Centre, Mr. Sainty nominated a girl, whom he was coaching and whom he knew to be over the age. The AVaitemata Club Committee, ascertaining that the girl was ineligible, referred the matter to the centre, which in turn handed on the complaint to the Ponsonby Club, which considered Mr. Sainty should provide an explanation. However, no letter from Mr. Sainty was received, and when the centre met this week it decided upon the drastic action of suspending Mr. Sainty until such time as an explanation is forwarded and approved. The centre's decision has been forwarded to the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association for confirmation.
