LOCAL BUTTER PRICE
SHOULD NOT BE FIXED
MR. HOLLAND AND DAIRY
BOARD
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
TE AWAMUTU, This Bay. Mr. H. E. Holland, Leader of the Parliamentary Labour Party, addressed a crowded meeting at the Town Hall last night. He confined his remarks entirely to the advocacy of dairy control and a general condemnation of the present Government's connection therewith. He was not in favour of vesting in the Producers' Board the power to fix prices of dairy produce sold in New Zealand, as that-would lead to price-fixation oh the basis of the London parity. He would not favour a protective duty against imported butter, but if the importations threatened he would legislate to prohibit the imports. The speaker was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
