INTER-ISLAND TELEPHONE

CHMSTCHURCH, This Day. The North and South Islands ■will b» linked telephonically probably next week. The telephone wires from the cable across the Straits from Welling--ton will connect with South Island stations at Seddon. Ten■ gangsi of work-; men' have been employed recently between Christchurch. and Seddon.
Overhead-wires are used throughout, as an. underground cable service is not considered as efficient for high speed distance work. ,
