RENOWN VISITED

NAVY LEAGUE CHILDREN'S DAY Over 2000 school children, members of the school branches of the Navy League, with their teachers, visited H.M.S. Eenown yesterday afternoon at the invitation of her commanding officer, Captain N. T. Sulivan. The officers and crew guided children and teachers on a thorough exploring tour of the big vessel. The fifteen-inch and smaller guns, and the many intensely interesting fittings of the spotless ship wore examined and explained, the en-gino-room proving a special attraction to the boys. Ev y kindness was extended to the visitors, who thoroughly enjoyed every, minute of their stay. The secondary schools represented wore:—Marsden Girls' College, Wellington Girls' College, Wellington College, and Wellesley College. The primary schools wore: Karori, Island Bay, Newtown, Terrace, Northland, Mount Cook, To Aro, Miramar South, Berhamporo, Seatoun, Worser Bay, and Brooklyn. In addition to the 2200 school members about 150 adult members of the Navy League wore present. v The Eenown was not open to visitors to-day. The officers are giving an unofficial dance to-night. On Friday night the men are giving an "at home" on the Renown, from 8 till 12.30' a.m., in return for what has been done for them by the ladies of the Eeception Committee. The last of the dances in the Town Hall will be on Saturday night, when it is hoped that the men will be able to obtain leave until after 11 p.m.

Two teams from H.M.S. Renown will play cricket matches with local elevens (one from Defence Headquarters) at the Basin Eeserye to-morrow afternoon.
