KINDNESS TO DUCHESS
NELSON PEOPLE THANKED

NELSON, 16th March. The Mayor of Nelson.(Mr. -W. Lock) has received the following letter from the private secretary to tho Duke of York:—
"His Eoyal Highness the Duko of Tork has been told by the Duchess of the great kindness and courtesy extended to her by the Mayoress, yourself, and citizens of Nelson, and of the presents of flowers-and fruit that you have sent her. lam to ask you to accept his most sincere gratitude for all you havo done, and convey an expression of this sentiment to the citizens. He would aUo be glad if you would inform the traffic inspector and borough engineer how cNjply he appreciates the efficient arrangements which were carried out under their supervision to ensure the comfort and quiet of Her Eoyal Highness. I am to ask the Mayoress ana. yourself to accept personally the accompanying photograph as a small token of their regard."
The accompanying photograph is a fine autographed copy of the Duko and Duchess, held in a solid leather frame.
