PAVING RINTOUL STREET
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —I would like to ask the Mayor through your columns when the paving of Rintoul strcetiß to be commenced. It was one of the street* mentioned in the loan schedule which was to be paved with bricks, and which I believe was altered to be paved with .rough bitumen asphaltuni, and I know that most ratepayers Voted for the loan through this street being included in the works to be done. Although we are paying the interest for the said work, we have only had a few yard* put down at the extreme bottom of the said street. It seems that other streets not mentioned in the schedule are: being paved to the detriment of those that were mentioned, I would like to know what is the 'matter with the foundations of the tram rail* near the Athletic Park, for the concrete is alway* being dug up and renewed within about two or three weeks after it ha* been replaced. The street \» in a very bad state, each side of the tram rail* being full of pot-holes and is very dusty, it being iwept by the prevailing wind*.—l am, etc., uti v i RATEPAYER. 14th March. ■-.-■•.
