"MADEMOISELLE FROM ARMENTIERES.

To-morrow the Empress Theatre.will be showing "Mademoiselle From Armentieres," a British film of exceptional originality, power, and artistic drama. It is not, however,"a war picture in the accepted sense of the word, but Mademoiselle's story is so indisolubly bcund up in the history of the conflict-that scenes of intensely realistic fighting are necessarily introduced. There is pathos in. the story, and a grinv. tragedy about the war scenes, but there is delicious humour also, and the dividing line between laughter and tears is almost negligible. "Mademoiselle From Armentieres" strikes a. pleasing note of reminiscence throughout. As Mademoiselle, Estelle Brody is a vivacious and sparkling little creature. Practically, every man in the cast is an ex-soldier, and Sergeant I. Smith, Y.G., and Colonel English, D.8.0., are included. The Empress distinctive orchestra will play a special music score for "Mademoiselle From Armentieres." During the day sessions "The Jungle Woman," a British-Australian production, will also be shown.
