ROSENEATH AFFAIRS

PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION

The annual meeting of the Roseneath and Mount Victoria Progressive Association was held last night, Mr. R. W. Burbidge presiding over a good attendance.

The annual report was read, and it "regretted that the City Council had not made much headway in the improvement of the roads on the higher levels of the district," and that the "fencing is in a deplorable state, and footpaths are conspicuous by their absence." Comment was made on the efforts of the association in approaching the Underwriters' Association and the State Fire Office, the result of -which was the re duction of fire premiums in the RosS neath district. . Congratulations to the Education Board were also contained in the report' on the erection of the new school for Roseneath, replacing the old school, which was partially destroyed by fire.

The report and balance-sheet wen adopted, and five new members enrolled.

A motion was passed asking the Cit) Council to take some action in the im provement of Hawker and Hay streets. It was stated that, owing to the bad state of the latter street, a lady met with an, accident there recently, anr 1 is in consequence, in a serious condition.

The following officers were elected tor the ensuing year:—President, Mr R. H. Stickney.- vice-president, Mr. R W. Burbidge; committee, Messrs. H. R C. Giles, R. Cashman H. T. O'Neill, J. Prendeville. -and Mrs. In p.
