SEASIDE ARCHERY
Organisers of aquatic fetes are always on the 100/k-out for novel "turns." The latest stunt in America is aquaplaning archery (asserts the Sydney "World News?'). A target is moored to a buoy, a certain distance from the course over which the aquaplaners pass. There are two girls on the "planing" board, and at a given spot one takes the bow, affixes the arrow, and fires at tho target—the idea being to score a "bull." Should the first-girl fail, she quickly hands the bow' to her friend, who fixes an arrow and tries her luck. A uniform speed must be kept up by the aquaplane, and only' one, shot is allowed to each competitor. *A grea.t deal of excitement results, and some funny situations develop; but so exhilarating has this sport proved that it is now being tried on many other American beaches beside those in California, where the idea originated.
