QUEEN CARNIVAL
POSITION OF CANDIDATES
Four of the five candidates in theHistoric Queen Carnival being held in support of the Searchlight Tattoo presented themselves at tho ballot box today, and heavy voting by all four was recorded. As not more than £230 represents the differenco between tho ■leading and tho lowest candidate it is ovident that the contest is a very level one, and as several of the committees are known to hold big reserves, it is expected that there will be some dramatic changes when the poll closes '.at noon on Wednesday. Tho position of tho candidates at n^on to-day was as follows;—•
"Margaret of Anjou" (Miss A. Rubenstein, R.S.A. nominee) "Queen Anno" (Miss Eileen Nor-
wood, Artillery nominee) ..... 2 "Britannia" (Miss NoeJinc Bevan,. ■ Navy League nominee) Z "Queen Victoria" (Miss Muriel Fra-
zer, Community Club nominee) 4 So far the fifth candidate, "Bcrengavia" (Miss Doreen M'Cubbin, the Red Cross nominee) .has not voted.
The winning candidate will be crowned at the Town Hall on Wednesday night, being attended by all the ladies of the Pageant in their historic costumes.
