RECOVERY OF BODIES (United Press Association.— Copyright.) LONDON, 3rd 1 March?' Rescue parties were threatened at every step with the most deadly gas fumes, but managed to penetrate the wall of rock and located twenty-four of tho twenty-nine bodies. The Black Vein of the Cwm colliery i 3 described as the scene of a veritable slaughterhouse, full of maimed, mutilated bodies. In another section of tho workings nine bodies were found seated in perfectly natural positions on stone slabs, some,leaning on tUeir elbaws and lolling buck an though talking to each other. Their eyes were wide open and so hfe-like that the rescuers were thrill ed with hope, but when they touched tho bodies they fell. It appears that they retreated behind the safety door at the first sound of. tho explosion to await rescue, but gas came through the door. ■
