FIRE IN FREEZING WORKS

(By Telegraph.— Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day

Shortly before 5 o 'clock, this morning a, firo was discovered in Borthwick's freezing works, .Waitara, and the position was s» threatening that tho manager telephoned for tho New Plymouth Fire Brigade, which quickly responded, but found on arrival that tho Waitara Brigado had ihe fire well undcr v control. The firo apparently originated m the men's elothea drying room through a steam pipe igniting tl:o timber. The bcof-eooHng room was badly damaged, and yesterday's kill was spoilt, but the slaughtermen are working to-day, and the operations will not be seriously hindered.

Tho Waitara Fire Brigado did wonderful work, and the damage will probably not exceed a fow hundred pounds. Tho insurances arc not available.
