The wrongful signing and witnessing o± two applications for enrolment un or tho provisions of tho Legislature Act resulted in the appearance of John Archer Logan, a storekeeper, of Brooklyn,'and Albert Abdulla Owen, also of Brooklyn, in the Magistrate's Court today.
Sub-Inspector Harvey stated that Owen signed both his mother's and his father's name to forms applying for inclusion on tlio electoral roll. Theso forms were then taken to Logan, who signed his name to them as witness. The Department was not pressing for a penalty, but had brought the charges as a warning to others. Nevertheless, the defendants were liable to a fine of £50.
Owen said j had filled in the forms and signed .them with the consent of his parents, who could not write, and Logan explained that ho had acted in good faith when ho signed his n-.uno as witness.
Mr. E. Page, S.M. (to tho defondants): "The Act renders you liablo to a lino of £50; apparently the Legislature requires personal signature in each case."
