PICNICS.

Messrs. E. J. Hyams, Ltd., and His Master's Voice (N.Z.), Ltd., entertained their staff at a picnic at Maidstone Park, 'Upper Hutt, last week. Among the guests was Mr. J. D. Birrell* special representative for the Westiughouse Electric International Company, of New York. The weather was perfect, and the catering was excellent. During the tea adjournment, Mr. W. Hatch, ou. behalf: of' the staff, expressed thanks to the directors for the pleasant outing, and briefly outlined the growth of the firms. Mr. E. J. Hyams, in responding on behalf of the firms, stated that it gave him great pleasure to see the staff enjoying themselves, and expressed his opinion that it was the social side of business that.held the co-operation of all.
