JAMITO OUTPOINTS JANSEN
HARD-FOUGHT CONTEST

PALMERSTON N., 27th Feb.
In a strenuous contest, Jamito gained the decision over Jansen in a fifteen-romul contest on Saturday night. A feature of the contest was the manner in which Jamito took terrible right punches on the chin, and still remained on his feet. Any white man surely would have been bat tered into unconsciousness. Jansen scoi ed with clean, direct punches, while Jamito's swinging punches with the inside of the glove vere very frequent throughout each round. Good judges expressed surprise of the referee's decision, in view of the Frenchman's far cleaner work. In the last round the audience was brought to its feet with excitement, as each stood his ground and traded punches worthy of heavyweights. In the preliminaries, Potbury (Palmers ton North) was disqualified in his fight with Evans (Levin) for using the heeof his glove after being -warned three times.
