OUTLOOK FOR APPLES.

(United Press Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, 26th February.

In the week-end review of London Stock Exchange business it 13 stated that prospects for the Australian and New Zealand applo trade are regarded as favourable, for now it seems certain that the competition of the Americans at the commencement of the season will be less serious than in recent years.

Many parcels now arriving from the United States are in poor condition. Shippers are apparently doubtful about the keeping qualities of their fruit, and they are trying to get rid of stocks as quickly as possible. This is proved by the fact that arrivals of Americans so far are more than 30 per cent, above the corresponding period last season. German and Scandinavian buyers evidently expect a good market, for they continue to pay high c.i.f. prices for Australian apples.
