EMPIRE AFFAIRS
OFFICIAL ISSUE OF NEWS STAETS NEXT WEEK (By foleeraph. —Press Association.) AUCKAND, 25 th February. The Prime Minister issued the following statement to-day:— "The Imperial Affah'3 Branch of the Prime Minister's Department, as a result of inquiries made in London and with the approval of His Majesty's Government in Great Britain, has arranged for the reception in New Zealand of daily British official wireless broadcasts from Eugby, and will as from next week issue them to the New Zealand Press Assoeial.ion for use by any New Zealand newspapers that desire to publish them. These communiques outline the official viewpoint on those matters that are of sufficient moment to be regarded as of Imperial interest, and contain, inter alia, in as small a compass as possible, the most reliable information as to world movements in general, and those aspects of foreign affairs that are likely to have a bearing on the British Empire. "These statements are prepared and issued by the British Foreign Office with the single object of publishing the true facts as known to the British Government, and the Press of New Zealand is being asked to indicate for the information of the public the-fact that each item so published is from 'British Official Wireless.'
"It is hoped by this means to enable the people of New Zealand to follow a little more accurately than has hitherto been possible the movement of world affairs, many of which have a bearing direct or indirect on New Zealand."
