PICNICS.
The annual staff picnic of Messrs. E C. Russell and Co., Ltd., was held at Maoribank, and was most enjoyable. Results of the sports were:—loo Yards: C V. Osgood 1, J. Rankin 2. 220 Yards: C. V. Osgood 1, M. Smith 2. 440 Yards Relay: Hutt Valley Staff 1. Tug-o'-War-Town Staff 1 and 2. 50 Yards Swim- G Rodda. Single Ladies' Race: Miss M' late. Married Ladies: Mrs. E. C. Russell 1, Mrs. T. Russell 2. Ladies' Tug-o'-War: Married ladies 1. Boys' Race: A. C. Cottle. Mr. Headland won the Visitors' Races, of 100 and 220 yards, and 50 yards swim. The Town Staff beat Hutt at cricket by 20 runs. Mr. Russell, in presenting the prizes, thanked the staff tor its co-operation in helping to build up the business. He also thanked the visitors for their attendance, and the merchants for their donations. Mr. Barron, on behalf of the visitors, and Mr. Spearably' replied ' °£ raerchants- suit"
