LABOUR AND THE ROYAL VISIT

At a largely attended meeting of the Wellington Trades and Labour Council on Thursday night, a resolution was carried protesting against the visit of the Duke and Duchess of York to New Zealand in the interests of Imperial propaganda, and the expenditure pf money, "while thousands of New Zealand workers are hungry and unemployed." Realising participation in all functions connected with this visit to be against the interests of the workers, the council "urges a general boycott, and instructs its representatives to carry out a policy of non-participation."
