A naval wireless message states that martial law has been proclaimed at Ichaug. All passing vessels are obliged to stop for military inspection. At Kiukiang there was considerable excitement, when, crowds were seen running down the Bund. Two platoons of bluejackets were landed to investigate. They ascertained that it was a public execution of northern spies. The bluejackets withdrew without incident. The second battalions of the Durham's and Gloucesters left Hong Kong to-day for Shanghai.
