MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police cases in the Magistrate's Court yesterday were dealt with by Mr W G. Riddell, S.M. Having pleaded guilty last week to a charge of wilfully disobeying the command of an officer of tho Canadian Planter, John Thomas Jones, a fireman aged 22, was fined £2, in default three days' imprisonment. Ths Magistrate directed that the accused be placed on board the ship when it sails. A sentence of one month's imprisonment was imposed on Florence Emma Enicny, aged 57, who admitted soliciting prostitution. For casting offensive matter, John .Randall, alias John Randle, a labourer aged 47, was fined £3, in default fourteen days' imprisonment. He was convicted and discharged for his first offence of drunkenness. A remar-d to nest Wednesday was granted in jfie case of Frederick Robert Garlick, a carpenter, aged 38, who is charged with tho theft of a gladstone bag and its contents, of a total value of £22 14s, the property of Thomas Leslie Evans. One first offender for drunkenness was convicted and discharged.
