The Makura, with Mr. Coates and party ou board, arrived .at Rarotonea from San Francisco to-day. The Makura is due to arrive at Wellington on Monday morning. Mr. Coates sailed from Wellington by the Makura on 14th September, so that if the vessel arrives here on Monday he will have been absent from New Zealand for exactly five months.
In yesterday's "Post" mention was made of damage caused at Oriental Bay by a band of exuberant youths, or, in other words, brainless young hoodlums, and to-day there are further reports of vandalism.
