FLOUR-DUMPING PROTEST.

Strong resentment is felt in Taranaki against the Government's action in imposing dumping duties on flour from Australia. The Stratford Chamber of Commerce has decided to forward a strong protest to the Government on the subject. This is in support of the action taken by the Taranaki Chamber last week. Mr. Thomson, chairman of the Stratford Chamber, said the principle was wrong. Australia could supply New Zealand with flour because that country could produce it cheaply. Likewise, New Zealand could supply Australia with butter. Every effort should be made to encourage trade between the two countries instead of regarding the Commonwealth as a foreign, country for the benefit of wheat growers and millers of Canterbury and North, Otagq. The imposition of the duty ia question really meant a heavy tax on tha consumer:
