WHISKY AS A PRIZE

ASHBUKTON, This Day. Arising, out of a charge adjourned from, a fortnight ago of illegally selling whisky offered as a prize for a lottery, in connection . with a Catholic bazaar at Mt. Somers, George Michael Doak appeared at the Court _ yesterday. A -woman won the prize, but not wanting the whisky, Doak collected various sums to make up its value.

A fine of £3 was imposed., A similar chargo against Flora M'Donald Green, winner' of the prize, was dismissed, the Magistrate saying that there might have been a technical offence.
