HOTEL LICENSE
AN IMPORTANT DECISION

. ;' _ ATJCKt/AND, This Day. ■ A decision of considerable importance" was made yesterday by the Auckland Licensing Committee when C. Wilson, a.well-known swimmer and ex-constable, was granted a temporary license of the Shamrock Hotel.
Inspector M'Uveney informed the Bench'that a summons, had been, issued against the outgoing tenant for an alleged- offence against the Act, and asked that the question of transferring the license be deferred until after the prosecution was heard. It was explained that, if the change of tenancy was made before the hearing, the Magistrate would not have the power to endorse the license for the reason that the person in charge would no longer be the licensee.
- Wilson's counsel urged that it would be unfair to defer the decision and, after deliberation in private, the chairman : (Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M.) upheld this contention, saying that the Bench wae convinced that the application had been made in gpba faith and not with
