TRAMCAR SEATS

(To the Editor.) Sir,—As a ratepayer, and, I hope, not an unprogressive onefi I feel that I must pio° test against the stupid extravagance of our City Council m furnishing some of our tramcars with.upholstered seats. Not only will such seats harbour dust and fleas, but they are quite unwanted.' At certain hours or the clay and night suburb dwellers suffer the greatest discomfort owing to the excessive crowding that is now allowed in the tramcars; and I believe that the great majority of travellers would like the writer, prefer to have all superfluous embellishments cut. out, and that the money thus saved should be used for travellers comfort and advantage by putting on extra cars at those times when most people are travelling.—l am etc viator!
