REGENT THEATRE.
This week's programme at 'the Regent Theatre lias as its main attraction "The Marriage Clause," a Universal Jewel film, starring Biliie Dove and Francis X. Bushman, and dealing with the trials of an actress who falls in love-with her director, but who signs a* -three-years' contract, including, a promise ■ not to marry during that period. At' the' end of the term she is at the height of her fame, but. the man she loves is supplanted by another director, Kavenal, also in love with the famous Sylvia Jordan.' Sylvia, however, remains true to her first love, Barry, and refuses to renew the contract unless the marriage clause is deleted. Because of his love for her, Eavenal agrees, and also to the retention of Barry. But in the meantime Barry has left the city.. The strain of separation' from the man she loves tells, so severely' upon the actress that she breaks down in the premiere of 'The Lady in Silver," and rapidly sinking, is on the point of death. But the audience is given a happy ending. Apart from the film entertainment, which includes good supports, the Aerial .Smiths do astonishing .things in mid-air, and provide a finished vaudeville act which found immediate favour with the audience. The Regent orchestra m well up to standard. ■
